| Baramulla administration exhibits quick response to snowfall challenge | | All roads cleared, essentials made available in buffer: claims admn | | Jammu, March 13 District Development Commissioner Baramulla today took stock of the situation that has erupted due to heavy snowfall in the District, at a meeting of officers at Baramulla today. The meeting reviewed the stock and supply position of essentials, road clearance operation, dewatering of the low-lying areas, electric supply and other related matters. The meeting was told that mechanical engineering department has put in service four snow clearing machines for undertaking road clearance and all main roads have been cleared and made traffic worthy. The interior links are being cleared by this evening, the meeting was told. For early restoration of electricity, electric department has deployed manpower which is working non-stop for the purpose. It was told that presently there is no dearth of essentials in the district and as many as 63850 quintals of rice, 3500 quintals of atta, 3800 quintals of sugar, 4 lac litres of k-oil and 24000 LPG cylinders are in stock in the district. The district development commissioner Mr. Basir Ahmad Khan directed the CAPD officers, tehsildars and police department to keep close eye on the prices and not to allow hoarders, black-marketers and profiteers to exploit the situation by creating talk scarcity of essentials. He asked the officers of municipal committees to undertake clearance of lanes and drains on warfooting. He appealed the general public to keep laison with government machinery where they need help and directed the district administration to be at beck and call of the public showing quick response wherever they are called for. Deputy Commissioner Baramulla also visited Sopore with officers interacted with people and deputations. He instructed the concerned officers to deploy dewatering pumps in the low-lying areas to clear accumulated snow water. |
