| Taj appeals consumers to exercise their rights | | | Jammu, March 13 Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din has appealed the consumers to exercise their rights in letter and spirit and make them selves fully aware of these. In a message, on the eve of “World Consumer Rights Day” being observed on 15th March, the Minister has said that the aim of celebrating the day is to aware the consumers of the rights they have been conferred under law. He said that with the increase in production and consumption of goods due to economic development, globalization and liberalization, the awareness of protection of consumers rights has become imperative. Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din said that to facilitate the consumers for redressal of their grievances a State Level Consumer Protection Commission and Divisional Level Consumer Protection Forums have been set up in the state adding that any consumer can approach these institutions to seek justice in relation to his rights as a consumer. He said that the department of CAPD will organize awareness camps on the eve of World Consumer Rights Day to aware the consumers of their rights. He appealed the people not to accept any services or goods which are deficient in nature as they are supposed to get better services and goods for prices they pay as consumer.
