| Court frames charges against JE RDD | | | Jammu, March 13 Special Judge Anticorruon Jammu JR Kotwal today framed charges against Junior Engineer Rural Development Department (RDD) block Kalakote Rajouri Mohd Bashir who was caught red-handed by the Vigilance Organization on August 6, 2006 while acceng Rs 6000 as illegal gratification from a contractor. According to the Vigilance case accused Mohd Bashir Junior Engineer in Rural Development Department block Kalakote, being a public servant demanded Rs 10,000 from a contractor as illegal gratification for releasing payment against a construction work executed by the contractor and the deal was settled at Rs 6000 on August 6, 2006. The accused, who was sitting in a restaurant at Jammu, demanded and accepted Rs 6000 as illegal gratification; the Vigilance Organization laid a trap and caught red-handed the accused along with the money. JR Kotwal, after hearing Chief Prosecuting Officer Onkar Singh appearing for the VOJ and Advocate NA Choudhary appearing for the accused, and after perusing the entire record of the charge-sheet filed by Vigilance Organization Jammu and considering the record on the file, observed that there is sufficient ground to presume that accused Mohammed Bashir JE has committed offence u/s 161 RPC, 5(2) r/w 5(1) (d) PC Act 2006 and prima-facie a case under these section is made out and framed charges against the accused and directed prosecution to lead evidence on the next date of hearing.
