| Gole Gujral deputation calls on Sharma | | Minister directs Director CAPD to ensure supply of Atta, K Oil on priority | | JAMMU MARCH 13 Voicing its grave concern over the shortage of essential commodities, especially Atta and Kerosene oil, in most parts of Jammu city in general and Gole Gujral in particular, a deputation of Ward No 31 Gole Gujral led by Block Congress Committee President Talal Tiloo J L Koul called on Minister for Health and Medical Education Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma here today. The deputation strongly pleaded for immediate restoration of supply of Atta and Kerosene to the ration depots and urged the Minister to personally intervene in the matter and save the consumers from the problems they are confronted with on account of non availability of these items. Quickly responding to the demand, the Minister issued necessary telephonic directions to the Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Jammu to ensure supply of these items to the consumers within next 24 hours. He also directed for constitution of a special cell to listen to the public grievances and ensuing proper monitoring the supply position. ‘No area should face shortage of essential supplies’, he asked the Director and directed him to personally supervise the distribution mechanism where under each area should get its share equitably. Appreciating the immediate response of the Minister, the delegation said that people have pinned high hopes on the present dispensation led by leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mangat Ram Sharma. Talking to the delegation, the Minister said that supplies got disturbed during the last couple of days, due to incessant rains that lashed Jammu region and assured that every possible step would be taken to redress the grievances of the consumers irrespective of the party affiliations. On this occasion, BCC President also apprised the Minister about other demands of the people of Gole Gujral that included installation of electric poles, repairs and renovation of roads, lanes and drains and improving sanitary conditions in the area. The delegation also conveyed its congratulations on the landslide victory of Narinder Singh Raju, as Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation and conveyed its appreciation to the party high command for fielding a right and dynamic candidate for the post of Mayor. Among others who were with the delegation included VK Dutta and Kuldeep Singh Advisors, Som Raj Sharma, Baldev Raj and Sanjeev Sharma Ward Presidents, Neelam Corporator Ward No 31, Babu Singh, Capt Sharma, Vishwanath General Secretary BBC, Kalyan Singh, Sandeep, Sushil Kumar, Pankaj Chibber and Viinay Shri Dhar.
