| One lakh persons to be covered under TLC in Pulwama | | | Srinagar, August 03 – About one lakh persons in the age group of 15 to 35 years are being provided education through Total Literacy Campaign (TLC) in Pulwama district. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs.1.30 crore and so far Rs.43 lakh have been released by Ministry of Human Resource Development. This information was given in a meeting held to review the achievements made so far under the scheme and chaired by District Development Commissioner, Pulwama. The meeting was told that 2789 TLC centres have been opened so far and registering on enrollment of 74265. All the blocks of the district have been covered under the scheme. It was given out that 25 resource persons, 110 master trainees and 1300 surveyors were involved in the programme in the initial phase to provide training to volunteers and to collect data about illiterates in the age group of 15 to 35 years across the district. Later, the Additional District Development Commissioner inaugurated two day training camp for volunteers of Total Literacy Campaign in Town Hall, Pulwama. The aim of the camp is to provide basic knowledge to volunteers about the programme as also the know-how about teaching and learning methods. |
