| Prabhandhak Board organizes AIDS Awareness Camp | | | Jammu, March 14
Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Prevention Control in collaboration with Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Nagar and Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (GPC) organized AIDS Awareness Camp here today.
Minister of State for Health and Power, Peer Mohammad Hussain was the chief guest. President GPC and MLC, S. Trilochan Singh Wazir and Project Director, AIDS Control Society besides granthis, Ragis, Sevadar and Pracharak of Sikh community belonging to Jammu region participated in the function.
Addressing on the occasion, the Minister said that this innovative idea of involving granthis has come after success of disseminating AIDS awareness through Imams of Muslim faith. He stressed upon Sikh leaders to highlight the ill effects of this dreaded disease and also about preventive measures to be adopted by one and all.
Mr. Hussain appealed Sikh community to play an effective role in educating people about precautionary measures to be taken up for control of dreaded disease.
MLC, Mr. Wazir appreciated the efforts of Dr. Gurmeet Singh who has taken an initiative to launch an awareness campaign in every nook and corner of Jammu region.
Dr. Wani said that awareness regarding eradication of AIDS should be created through songs, bhajans and focussed on services like preventive, curative and rehabilitative measures which include condome Usage Programme (CUP), STD, VCTC and ART.
