| SLRC reviews functioning of Banks | | | JAMMU MARCH 14 State Bank of India, Lead Bank office Jammu organized the District Level Review Committee (SLRC) and District Level Consultative Committee of various Banks to review the performance for the quarter ending December last for Jammu district which was presided over by the District Development Commissioner Jammu Hirdesh Kumar Singh. In his welcome address Chief Manager Lead Bank R K Koul giving an over view of the Bank’s performance in the district during the third quarter of the current fiscal informed that disbursement of Rs. 325.23 crore was made under priority sector up to the quarter ending December last as against Rs.317.81during the corresponding period of last year registering an increase of Rs.7.52 crore. The credit deposit ratio stood at 40.35 per cent against 33.42 as on 31st December 2005, thereby registering a spectacular growth of 7 per cent, he added. Lauding the role of some major banks including SBI, PNB, Canara Bank and Ellaquai Dehati Bank, the District Development Commissioner exhorted the banks and the line departments to work in close coordination and make the employment guarantee and poverty alleviation programs more successful. He also laid stress on achieving 60 per cent credit deposit ratio, benchmark set up by the Reserve Bank of India. The meeting, however, viewed with displease the low credit dispensation under agriculture sector and laid stress on issuing Kissan Credit cards to all the eligible farmers and expediting linkage of self help groups. The meeting was also attended by Saurav Bhagat, Additional District Commissioner, Satveer Kour, Chief Planning Officer, Kaki Koul, LDO RBI, Sumriti Baghat NABARD, N K Khajuria District Manager J&K Bank, A K Mota District Coordinator PNB and other senior officers from banks and the government departments.
