Fruit growers asked to take preventive measures

In order to combat the deteriorating effects of untimely rains and snowfall, the fruit growers of Jammu division have been advised to follow precautionary measures to avoid further damage to the fruit crops.
The State Horticulture Department has advised the fruit growers to drain out the stagnant excessive water in strawberry plots and bury the damaged fruit crop in a pit to avoid spread of diseases. It has also advised the fruit growers that half fallen fruit trees should be erected in upright position and supported with a stake besides the strawberry plants should be drenched with a systemic fungicide to avoid incidence of root rot due to excessive moisture.
