| Court awards 17 yrs RI to 3 JeM militants | | | Jammu, Sept 12: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Kartar Singh today awarded 17 years rigorous imprisonment and fine to three Pakistani national Ghulam Farid S/o Mohd Shafi R/o Ropar Tehsil Bhimber, Pakistan, Mohd Imran S/o Abdul Gaffar R/o Dera Nawab Khan, Pakistan and Mohd Abdullah S/o Mohd Zarin R/o Serian Tehsil Haripur Pakistan. All the convicts are e militants of Jesh-e-Mohammad Militant Organization. According to the prosecution case, on December 21, 2008 an information from reliable source that some Pakistani militants had entered in the state of J&K after arming themselves with modern arms and ammunition and are staying in some hotels at Jammu in order to commit a big incident. The SHO along with other jawans of Special Operation Group started searching the hotels and during search of Samrat hotel, near Bus Stand, the accused were found in room No 23 of the said hotel and on enquiry they disclosed their names as Ghulam Farid, Mohd Imran and Mohd Abdullah and from their search, one AK-rifle with two loaded magazine in which there were 56 live cartridges and two hand grenades were recovered from the accused Ghulam Farid, whereas one pistol with loaded magazine having six live cartridges and one hand grenade were recovered from the accused Mohd Imran and one pistol along with one magazine having six live cartridges and one hand grenade were recovered from the accused Mohd Abdullah. The accused belonged to Jesh-e-Mohammad Militant Organization and they had entered into state to spread terror activities and to cause damage to the vital installations of army and police. The Court after hearing Public Prosecutor Shabir Choudhary for the state whereas Adv Rameshwar Sharma for the accused persons observed that taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case, the accused Ghulam Farid S/o Mohd Shafi R/o Ropar Tehsil Bhimber, Pakistan, Mohd Imran S/o Abdul Gaffar R/o 8 Dera Nawab Khan, Pakistan and Mohd Abdullah S/o Mohd Zarin R/o Serian Tehsil Haripur Pakistan are sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of ten years each in proof of the offence falling under section 7/25 Arms Act. In default of payment of fine, they shall further undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months each. They are further sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of seven years each and to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000/ each for the commission of offence falling under section 14 Foreigner's Act. In default of payment of fine, they shall further undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months each. They are further sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of five years each in proof of the offence falling under section 5 Explosive Substance Act. In default of payment of fine, they shall further undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months each. All the sentences are directed to run concurrently. Court also directed that the accused shall be pushed back to their country after the completion of sentences. (JNF) |
