Sports Reporter JAMMU, Sept 12: Young and promising shuttler, Vipul Saini retained the men's District Badminton title beating his elder brother Vikram Saini in straight sets of 21-18, 21-16 in the final played at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today. The women's singles trophy went to Sulakhni Kour, who beat Akanksha 2-1 (21-14, 12-21, 21-18) in a well contested title clash that took place yesterday. The veteran singles final won by Daljit Singh beating Anil Gorkha 2-1 (21-18, 12-21, 21-16). In veteran doubles title clash, the pair of Raju Chawla and Pardeep trounced the duo of Anil Gurkha and Sunil Gurkha 21-10, 21-16. In under-19 boys, singles event, Divam Gupta emerged winner beating Shantul Raina 21-16, 12-21, 21-09. Later, in doubles final, the pair of Divam and Divyam outplayed Shantul and Satyam 21-16, 21-13 to claim the title. Similarly, in under-19 girls singles final, Suvidha Khajuria beat Diksha Mahajan 21-10, 21-19. The under-19 girls' doubles title went to the duo of Soubhagini and Suvidha, who beat Diksha and Himanshu 21-13, 21-18. In the finals and valedictory function of the District Championship, Member Legislative Council(MLC), Devinder Singh Rana was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. |
