JAMMU MARCH 14
Secretary General Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rajendra Motial and Vikrant Kuthiala Executive Member in their petition to the State Electricity Regulatory Commission has strongly opposed the proposed hike in the electric tariff for all categories of consumers and sought outright rejection of any such move.
The Chamber representatives pleaded that electricity duty should be charged on electricity consumed and not on the minimum charges and alleged that slabs on tariff for all categories are prone to be manipulated.
Regretting that power availability to the industry is not as per the promise and commitment made by the government, the Commerce representatives presented the facts about the deficiencies and discrepancies and said that out of 17,31,772 households in the state only 10,52,745 were registered consumers while 31 per cent were using electricity unauthorizedly.
They also pointed out discrepancy in revenue gap projected in the ARR and in the power budget expenditure statement as presented by Finance Minister in the State Assembly .They pleaded that till such time the complete details of power purchases, submission of other complete statutory proformas attached with the petition for tariff are not made available, arrangements for effectively e- metering, reduction in T & D losses, the decision on tariff increase should be kept in abeyance.
