| Consensus eluding UJC constituents on Kashmir formula | | | Srinagar,March 14, Gen. Abdullah Chief of Jamait-ul-Mujahideen, a constituent of the United Jehad council in his latest newspaper interview had raised many a eyebrows by taking a divergent view on the Syed Salah -ud-Din’s statement supporting Pak President General Pervez Musharraffour point proposal on Kashmir.JuM chief categorically stated in his recent interview that ”we differ with the stand of the UJC Chairman Syed Salahuddin because such proposals and the demand forceasefire could weaken the freedom movement in Kashmir.” Syed Salah-UD-Din while welcoming the four point formula had stated that it could be the first step towardsthe resolution of the problem. Gen. Abdullah claimed that another constituent ofthe Council,Tehrik-ul Mujahideen, too had supported“our contention” because any deviation from the actualgoal could be harmful for the ongoing struggle. The Jamaitul Mujahideen Chief has suggested that if India and Pakistan could not work out a solution thatwas in tune with the aspirations of people of Kashmirthe two sides should freeze the issue for sometime. He said freezing of the issue was better than eithergranting concessions or evincing interest in acompromise.
