'SHIFT BADAL's TRIAL OUT OF PUNJAB FOR FAIR HEARING'
3/14/2007 11:40:04 PM

Jammu, March 14
Even as Punjab Chief Minister
Prakash Singh Badal and his relatives were already served charge
sheets by the Ropar court in the disproportionate assets case
on Tuesday, leaders of various Sikh organizations in Jammu
and Kashmir have requested Prime Minister Dr Manmohan
Singh to get the case transferred from Ropar court to
outside Punjab to prevent any interference in the court
proceedings by the Punjab government.
The sikh leaders also urged the Punjab chief Minister to resign
from their posts till the court cleared them of the charges.
At a meeting held here today under the chairmanship
of Mr Mohinder Singh, chief of Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Sewa
Society, these leaders requested the Prime Minister,Mr
Manmohan Singh,to get the case transferred from Ropar
to any other state in order to prevent any
interference in the court proceedings by the Punjab
Government.
The Sikh leaders advised Mr Badal and his son to
follow the footsteps of Navjot Singh Sidhu, BJP
M.P.,who had resigned from the Lok Sabha membership
soon after a case against him was filed in a court.
Leaders,including,Mr Narbir Singh, President
Shiromani Youth Akali Dal,Mr Paramjit
Singh,President,AISSF,Mr Amar Singh, President Sikh
Welfare Society,Mr Gajjan Singh,Chief Sikh Sangat,said
that Mr Badal had no moral and constitutional right to
remain in the seat of Chief Ministership. They said
that some capable leader should “replace” him and Mr
Badal could be sworn in in as Chief Minister again
when the court cleared him of the charges.
