| Azad alongwith Ministers, senior officers makes intensive surprise visit of interior areas of Jammu city till midnight | | | JAMMU, MARCH 14 Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad started his surprise and extensive tour of 40 important places of Jammu city including old and new areas to personally monitor the condition of roads, lanes, bye-lanes, drains, sanitation, electric network and water supply last night. His tour started at 10 p.m. and continued till midnight. Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak, MLA Mr. Yogesh Sawhney, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr. Narinder Singh, Secretary R&B Mr. Shailendra Kumar, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu Mr. M. M. Sharma, other senior officers and engineers. Chief Minister stopped at Raghunath Mandir Chowk and advised the concerned to make surroundings of the chowk more captivating and attractive keeping in view the spiritual importance of the historic temple. Mr. Azad moved on foot from Raghunath Mandir Chowk to Purani Mandi where a parking lot is being created. He advised Mr. Charak to give him full details about the target period of completion of this project. He instructed authorities to take personal interest in maintaining the drains in the area. At Purani Mandi near Hanuman temple, Chief Minister visited the small park which is existing in a congested place. He advised Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation to provide small chairs and maintain the park with good turf so that it glorifies the whole crossing. He also advised for providing better street lighting system and removal of garbage dumping point from the area. While walking through Link road, he reached at K.L. Saigal Chowk. However, he expressed his concern that memorial stone of renowned singer and pride of Jammu has not been maintained well. He advised for proper maintenance and beautification of the chowk so that late Mr. K. L. Saigal’s memories are preserved for posterity. From there, Chief Minister moved to Jain Bazar and directed for launching of the project for converting lane into full-fledged road to connect Jain Bazar via Circular road through Julahka Mohalla so that congestion in the areas is removed and traffic flow becomes smooth. The project of 600 meter long road will cost Rs. 16 crore which he directed may be included under National Urban Renewal Mission scheme. Chief Minister said that Jammu is fast emerging as one of the mega cities of the state and extra care should be taken to complete various projects under different schemes for beautification of city and upgrading of civic amenities on priority basis. Mr. Azad at several places gave on-the-spot instructions for improvement of roads, lanes, bye-lanes, drains and civic amenities. He interacted with people at number of places who inspite of late hours came out of their houses in large numbers to receive him on hearing that Chief Minister is moving on a surprise visit in their areas. The areas visited by Chief Minister included Residency road, Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk, Old Hospital road, Purani Mandi, Link road, Julahka Mohalla, Jain Bazar, Chowk Chabutra, Pacca Danga, Dhounthli, Panjtirthi, Radio Station Crossing, Ambphalla, New Plots, Janipur, Paloura, Roopnagar, Muthi, Canal road, Shaktinagar, Rajpura, Rehari Colony, Exchange road, Kachi Chhawni, Parade, Shalimar, Kanak Mandi, Rajinder Bazar and Shahidi Chowk.
