| LC passes prevention of disqualification amendment Bill 2006 | | |
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 03 – Legislative Council today passed Prevention of Disqualification Amendment Bill 2006, LA Bill No. 14 after its objects and reasons were explained by the Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Muzaffar Hussain Baig. The Bill stands already passed by the Legislative Assembly.
Other Bills which the Legislative Council passed today included The Code of Civil Procedure Amendment Bill 2006, L A Bill No. 13, the Jammu and Kashmir Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Bill 2006 LA Bill No. 10 and Jammu and Kashmir Prohibition on Manufacture of Specified Copper Utensil by Machine, Bill 2006, L A Bill No. 9. These Bills also stand passed by the Legislative Assembly.
Five Private Members’ Bills were also moved in the Legislative Council today by Mr. Ashok Sharma and Prof. Bhim Singh. Of these, one Bill was moved by Mr. Ashok Sharma providing to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Raj Act 1989 whereas Prof. Bhim Singh moved the four Bills namely a Bill to provide for more effective protection of the rights of women, a Bill to amend Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act 1978 and a Bill to impose restrictions on marriage of minor girls. All these Bills were sent to Select Committee.
Another Bill moved by Prof. Bhim Singh to provide for re-adjustment of the allocation of the seats or rotation of the reserved seats of the Legislative Assembly was withdrawn by the member. |
