Jammu | Mar 14 Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar was awarded Pankaj Mohan Bhattia Memorial over all championship Trophy while GCW Parade bagged the runners up trophy in the inter-college Display Your Talent contest that concluded here today. The Prize Distribution function took place at Brigader Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. The function was organized by the Department of Students, Welfare University of Jammu. Gulchain Singh Charak, Minister for Roads and Buildings, J&K was the chief guest while Prof. Amitabh Mattoo Vice-chancellor presided over the function. Speaking on this occasion, charak exhorted the younger generation to preserve rich cultural heritage. He further said that the students must participate in extra curricular activists. Prof. Mattooo in his speech, complimented the prize winner and lauded the efforts of Department of Student Welfare in providing suitable platform to the student to show their talent on the stage. Kanwar Iqbal, from govt. Medical College Jammu bagged Prof. Y.B. Singh Memorial Trophy for overall best performance in Fine arts. Jagmohan Singh Memorial Trophy for Best team in Debating Contest bagged by Govt. Degree College Kathua. Institute of Music and Fine arts, Jammu was awarded Vijay Verma Memorial Trophy and Dr. J.R. Sharma memorial Trophy for overall Best Performance in music. Govt. M.A.M. College, Jammu bagged special Trophy for quiz competition. Neeraj Sharma of G.G.M. Science College was adjudged as the overall Best student of the contest. Manvi Gupta, Tanvi Mahajan and Vinay Kumar were presented special momentos for their outstanding in National Competitions. Prof. Keshav Sharma, Former Dean Social Welfare and Prof. Deepsheekha Kotwal, Former Chairperson campus cultural Committee were also felicitated. Amita Malhotra, Secretary students cultural council, lovely sabharwal, Munti Talwar and Aziz-ur-Rehman were also presented by momentos. Prof. D.S. Pathania, Dean Students’ Welfare gave a brief resume on the display your talent 2006-07. He made a special mention of the untiring efforts made by the staff.
