DGP asks police personnel to serve with exemplary commitment

SRINAGAR, MARCH 15
Director General of Police Mr. Gopal Sharma today visited Police Training School at Manigam and took stock of training being provided to the police personnel.
Addressing the officers and trainees, Director General of Police disclosed that training of new recruits will commence from Ist April 2007.
Mr. Sharma said that training should be imparted in such a manner that the police personnel besides maintaining peace, law and order serve the people in a better manner with best of their abilities.
Mr. Sharma was informed about the training programme, its contents, areas of focus and living condition of trainees.
Director General of Police also visited District Police Lines Ganderbal where he addressed officers and jawans. He exhorted upon them to discharge their duties in an exemplary manner and work hard to maintain peace, law and order.
Highlighting the role of police in bringing normalcy in the state, Mr. Sharma said that the police is committed for it. He also spoke about the supreme sacrifices made by the valiant police personnel for the purpose, adding that force is always ready to sever the people and meet any challenge facing the state and the country.
He also dwelt on measures being taken for the welfare of police personnel and their families including SPOs.
Director General of Police also visited various police stations and police posts in Ganderbal area and interacted with the police personnel and enquired about their day-to-day working. He stressed upon them to provide better policing to the general public.
Mr. Sharma also listened to the problems of jawans and issued on the spot orders for redressal of their genuine grievances.
Director General of Police, who is camping in Srinagar for the last two days, also addressed a meeting of Commandants of JKAP and IRP battalions at Police Control Room Srinagar this evening. He discussed in detail the deployment of Armed Police especially in view of ensuing move of offices to Srinagar in summer. He exhorted the Commandants to avoid unnecessary and unavoidable deployment of men outside the norms laid down for the purpose and issued instructions in this behalf.
Mr. Sharma also visited the headquarters of JKAP 5th Battalion in Srinagar where a ceremonial guard presented arms to their chief.
During the visit, DGP was accompanied by IGP Kashmir Mr. S. M. Sahai, DIG Kashmir Mr. Farooq Ahmad, DIG Armed Police Mr Zahoor Hussain Chisti, SSP Srinagar and SSP PCR Srinagar.
