| Recruitment drive by ITBP | | | JAMMU, MARCH 15 Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is recruiting 268 persons from Jammu and Kashmir. The recruitment is taking place around April 2007. ITBP office located in J&K has informed that the last date for filling application forms is 7th April 2007. Application forms can be obtained from different units of ITBP located in J&K. The application form has also been published in the Employment News dated 3rd March 2007.
Pg 3 Jogi photo World Consumer Rights Day observed >>Manjit for mass awareness about consumer rights JAMMU, MARCH 15 (INFO) – Reiterating the Government’s resolve to provide a responsible and accountable administration to the people and safeguarding the rights of consumers, Minister of State for Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution S. Manjit Singh has appealed the people to register their grievances in the concerned forums so that appropriate and timely corrective measures are taken to resolve these. The Minister was addressing at a function at Purkhoo today held on the eve of world Consumer Rights Day organized jointly by CAPD Department and Consumer Protection Organization. Describing protection of Consumer Rights an important issue, the Minister said that the whole society is the composition of consumers and as such every citizen has to share responsibility with government to protect their rights S. Mangit Singh, however asserted the need for creating, awareness among the consumers about their rights to enable them to lead a dignified life. He suggested for launching a mass campaign to aware the people about the Consumer Rights enshrined in the different consumer protection laws. He highlighting various issues including transportation system, providing of safe drinking water, inspection of consuming products and regular and systematic monitoring of sale life saving drugs. He said that the Consumer Act can not be implemented in true spirit unless all the government and non-government organizations and people in general extend their cooperation to the government. Any aggrieved consumer can approach to the Consumer Forums who would provide free guidance and counseling to him for justice. He said that 15th March is being celebrated as world consumer rights Day every year with an aim to protect the consumer rights and encourage them to exercise their rights as consumers and stay alert and aware about consumer related issues. He said in view of increase in production and consumption of goods due to economic development globalization and liberalization of economy the importance of protection of consumer rights has become a vital issue. Minister also released a souvenir on the occasion. MLC R. S. Chib, Secretary CAPD, Mr. Khalid Habib, Director CAPD Jammu Mr. B. D. Sharma, prominent citizen, traders, students and members of Consumer protection organization consumers forum also spoke on the occasion.
