| Army to introduce field postal order for jawans | | | Jammu March 15 Army Postal Service is committed to provide a wide range of communication, financial and logistic services to the troops and units. It was felt since long that troops are facing problems in remitting money to their families as banks are not available in the Field/CI Ops areas. It takes lot of time to get the bank draft. The time, cost and delay have been the irritants for the troops. There have been numerous instances when the Jawans carrying cash during the journey were duped by unscrupulous elements and their hard earned money was looted. To facilitate easy, safe economical remittance to the troops, a new Service namely Field Postal Order is being introduced by APS. Under the scheme there will be no need for any application or form to buy the said instrument .The instrument is a replacement to Demand draft or Traveler Cheque which can be en- cashed in any civil or Army Post Office in India. The instrument up to Rs 15000 can be instantly paid on providing proof of identity of the payee. The Field Postal Order of Rs 20000 denomination will be payable through SB A/C and can be crossed before dispatch for security at the time of purchase. There is a provision to fill in the name of the Payee and Office of payment.
