| “A Tribute to Legend”- Mir Ghulam Rasool Nazki | | | Jammu March 15 A seminar “A tribute to a legend”, in the memory one of the prominent poet of Kashmir Mir Ghulam Rasool Nazki will mark his 97th birth anniversary on March 16. Member Legislative Council, M.Y Taing will preside over the seminar, which will focus on the contribution of the legendry poet to literature of Jammu and Kashmir. On the occasion, 30 inventive drawings by his son Registrar BGSBU, Rajouri Prof. Ayaz Rasool Nazki, who is himself an eminent poet of the State, will also be exhibited Professor Nazki, professionally a scientist and administrator, is emerging as one of the prominent multi-lingual poets of the State. The exhibition being hosted by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages will be thrown open by Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department Taj Mohi-ud-Din, at Kala Kendra Jammu. Prof. Nazki, had earlier exhibited his effectual sketches in November 2004 which were applauded not only at national level but also internationally. Former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffer Hussain Beig had termed the drawings of Nazki as a serious attempt to integrate the sensitive from Khayam with the unusual from Picasso. His sketches were exhibited by the Academy with the paintings of internationally known artist M.F Hussain Among the Urdu poets of the state, Professor Nazki is termed as representative poet in post modernism Urdu by the critics of national level. Nazki is known for translation of a book of Rubayaat of his father Mir Ghulam Rasool Nazki into English, composing a collection of Ghazals namely Khudro in Urdu language and another collection of Gazals ‘Maqam-i-Rast’ in Kashmiri language.
