| Micro Hydro Power Project for Shopian: Jora | | | In Heerpora Shopian, 12 MW Micro Hydro Power Project estimated to cost Rs. 82.40 crore is being constructed in Shopian by an Independent Power Producers (IPPs) namely M/s Construction Engineering Srinagar. This was stated by Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora in a reply to a question by Mr. A. R. Takroo in Legislative Council today. He said that the construction of 6.3 MVA, 33/11 KV, Receiving Station, Keegam Shopian has already been taken up for execution under APDRP scheme adding that the receiving station is targeted to be completed within one year. The augmentation of receiving station, Gagran Shopian from 4+6.3 MVA to 2x6.3 MVA has already improved regular power supply to the area. He said construction of Heerpora Shopian power House will be started after the financial clearance is achieved and statutory clearance are obtained by the concerned agency. The project is to be made operational within 48 months from the date of receipt of all statutory approvals and clearances by the IPPs, the Minister added. Replying another question by Mr. Rashid Qureshi, the Minister said that the power supply to district Poonch shall improve after completion and commissioning of 20 MVA, Draba, Grid Station and 132 KV, Rajouri-Draba, Transmission Line. These two works are likely to be completed and commissioned during current financial year 2006-07. He said district Poonch could not be connected with 132 KV Transmission Network because of paucity of funds under State Plan. The construction of 132 KV Transmission Line is now ongoing under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan. He said the power supply is being provided to district Poonch as per schedule in vogue and system availability. The desirability of the department is to provide regular power supply to all the districts including district Poonch, but due to system constrains, additional power cuts are effected at times. |
