sports reporter JAMMU, Sept 24: Host GGM Science College and Government SPMR College of Commerce today sailed into the quarterfinals of the ongoing inter-college men's football tournament, here. In the pre-quarterfinals, played today, Science College blanked Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura 3-0. Anuj Singh struck twice in the 21st and 50th minute to make it a big win. Earlier, Suraj Kumar opened the account for Science College netting the ball in 19th minute. In another match, Commerce College defeated Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) by a solitary goal. The only goal came through Rajinder in the 45th minute. Meanwhile, in another pre-quarterfinals stages match, Bhargwa Degree College outplayed equally good Mahant Bachiter Singh (MBS) College of Engineering 7-5 in the tie-breaker. Earlier, in the stipulated time, the match ended in a 4-4 draw. From Bhargwa College, Arun Nangyal was star striker from the winning side scoring three goals in the 40th, 45th and 67th minute while Gaganjot added one goal in 42nd minute. From MBS, Sunil (10th), Nikhil (20thand 65th) and Sourab (47th) were the scorers. Today's matches were officiated by the technical penal including Ajay Sharma, Rohit Gupta, Pardeep Katoch, Dhananjay Sharma, Sanjay and Gagan Kumar. |
