DODA, Sept 24: An awareness camp was organised under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) held at Panchayat Kotli, Assar of Doda here today.
Speaking on the occasion Yasir Arfat Zargar, KAS, Project officer Watershed (IWMP/DPAP) Doda discussed the scheme in detail including its objectives i.e. Poverty alleviation through livelihood activities and micro enterprises,, formation of self help groups for fisheries, dairy, poultry, agriculture, bee keeping , plantation etc. "To conserve ecological balance and sustainable development, the Gagla project will run for 5-7 Years during which 3500 ha area of Kotli ,Gagla and Shamti panchayats will be taken care of for ecological conservation, he added .
Sarpanch, Panchayat Kotli and District technical expert IWMP Doda also spoke on the occasion and briefed the gathering about water shed programme. |
