Azad makes aerial survey of Kashmir, takes note of roads, infrastructure in valley
Advises airline operators to increase flights

SRINAGAR, March 15
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today conducted an aerial survey of most of the districts of the valley and assed the situation risen out of the recent snowfall in Budgam, Chadoora, Pakherpora, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Pahalgam Damhal Hanjipora, Jawahar Tunnel and other affected towns and villages of the valley as also those villages which are on higher altitudes and where maximum snowfall has been recorded.
During the survey, Azad found that all the roads leading to districts, towns and villages are in operation and traffic was plying as a result of timely action taken by divisional and district administration in this behalf.
Azad, meanwhile, instructed the administration to intensify market checking and initiate stern action against those found indulging in hoarding and profiteering.
The Chief Minister has been personally monitoring the situation and all steps being taken by the different ministries and administration to cope up with the situation arising due to heavy snowfall in spring season.
The Chief Minister also made a thorough survey of vast almond orchards scattered in Shopain, Pulwama and Budgam districts and parts of Anantnag and Srinagar belt.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Mr Basharat Ahmed and other concerned officers.
He was informed that almond buds in most of the areas had started blooming before time and season but due to fluctuation of temperature and sudden heavy snowfall severe damage has been caused to almond crop at the budding stage due to which it is apprehended that almond production may get affected this year .
The Chief Minister advised Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to submit a report giving details about the damages caused to the almond crop.
The Chief Minister also visited Srinagar Airport where work for making it International Airport is on and is being executed round the clock so that target of converting Srinagar Airport into International Airport is achieved this year.
The Chief Minster had earlier instructed for operating maximum number of flights from this airport immediately after runway was thrown open for operation of air-traffic with the first arrival of Chief Minister and team of ministers yesterday at 11 am. Director Airport and concerned flight operating authorities informed the Chief Minister that since yesterday till now 28 fights have operated form the airport and approximately 6000 persons were taken aboard through these flights from Srinagar Airport and vice versa.
The Chief Minister advised Airport authorities to keep all the infrastructure available and work for enhancing the number of flights so that people are able to utilize their services comfortably and conveniently.
The Chief Minster also advised Beacon authorities to work round the clock at Panthal to remove the road blockades as soon as possible so that large number of truck loads carrying essentials reach the valley. He was informed by divisional administration that most of the essential commodities for one month are available.
