Jammu, Sept 24: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today criticized state government for its failure to meet the requirement of ration especially in far flung and remote area in Kalakote at district Rajouri. As per press release, a meeting of PDP workers held at Kalakote under the leadership of its zonal president, Sayeed Majid Shah. Addressing the meeting, Shah said that the centre government has come up with ambitious food security bill to provide food grain to people on highly cheap rates but the people of Kalakote were getting a rough deal as they were not provided adequate supply of rations from state government due to defunct Public Distribution System. He said that despite Consumer Affair and Public Distribution (CA&PD) department claimed to provide adequate supply of ration but unfortunately the people of Kalakote were being denied even the fixed scale of 35 Kg. He said that while the CA&PD department guarantees to provide Wheat, Atta and Rice at Rs 4.80, Rs 5.35 and Rs 6.40 per Kg respectively under Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, at Rs 2.00, Rs 2.00 and Rs 3 under Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY ) and at Rs 7.25, Rs 8 and Rs 10 respectively under Above Poverty Line (APL) families, besides sugar at a uniform rate of Rs 13.50 per kilogram for all categories, but the dealers not only flout the rate list but also provide less quantity of ration to costumers by referring excuse that they get less supply from the department. Others who were participated in the meeting including Block President, Kalakote Maqbool Hussian, Block President of youths Manzoor Hussain , Faziya Mirza, Amir Mirza and others. |
