'Don't harass Nursing Home owners without sufficient evidence'
9/24/2013 11:12:23 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 24: Nursing Homes and Clinical Establishments Association, Jammu today emphasized that doctors and nursing homes were shouldering responsibility of providing health care to the society and any allegation made against them should be dealt with utmost care and caution.
"Unless sufficient evidence is available, they should not be subject to harassment. Creating unnecessary scare amongst the members of the fraternity can affect the services provided by them to the common man," a spokesperson of the Association said in a statement.
While condemning the unfortunate happenings in the Home for Mentally Retarded, which have come to light, it feels that the extra ordinary haste in which the members of the nursing home fraternity, unconnected with the issue, have been implicated and focus shifted to a medical procedure alleged to have been carried out 16 years ago.
"On the basis of hearsay, has only served to divert the attention from the real culprits, responsible for the recent offences committed by them," he added.
The Association pointed out that the Nursing Home owners have been treated without the verification of facts. "Action has been taken against them based on unverified and verbal statements without any evidence against them. It appears that whereas the minimum requirement is to verify and ascertain the facts before proceeding with any punitive action against anyone, in this case the reverse has been done by first arresting them and then trying to create and collect the evidence," the spokesperson said.
The Association appealed that the arrested members of the profession should be immediately released to restore the confidence of the medical fraternity, and assured that the complete cooperation will be provided to the investigation agencies to bring the real facts to light. The doctors who addressed the press conference on behalf of the Association included Dr Swarn Singh (President) Dr. Navindu Raizada (Vice President) Dr. Vishav Gupta (Joint Secretary) and Dr. Yudhishter Veer Gupta (Gen. Secretary).
