Jammu, Sept 24(JNF): In a petition seeking a ban on telecast of unreasonable programmes on small screen and to ensure people enjoy their fundamental rights with full pleasure and ban on transmission/re-transmission that do not confirm with the Programme Code and Advertisement Code as provided under sections 6 and 7 of the said Act and also in an application seeking directions to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India to direct the Color Television Channel to allot post 11 P.M. time slot to 'Big Boss' programme to be aired on television this year, the J&K High Court directed that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting shall get assessed the theme, subject matter treatment and audio visual depiction of the 'Big Boss' Reality Show Season-7 through the mechanism in place in the Ministry, if any, or otherwise, having regard to the episodes telecast so far on the Color Television Channel and on the basis of such assessment to take the view whether the programme is in conformity with the prescribed programme code or not and whether the programme deserves prime time telecast or not. Justice Janak Raj Kotwal further directed that in case the view taken is that the programme is not in conformity with the prescribed programme code or/and the programme does not deserve prime time telecast, the Ministry shall issue order as required under section 20(3) of the Act or order for shifting of its time slot to 11 P.M. onwards as the case may be. Court further said that needful to be done and report be furnished to this court within 15 days after a copy of this order is provided to the Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. |
