Jammu, Sept 24: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in its initiative under "Clean Up Jammu" sanitation drive reached out to outer Jammu localities of wards 65, 67, 21 & 23 where on spot assessment of the sanitary conditions and performance of other municipal services were made and necessary instructions were also issued for improvement of civic amenities. During today's drive the launched in name of 'Clean up Jammu' the JMC officials led by Kiran Wattal, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with the Ex-Corporators , businessmen and prominent citizens of the wards visited areas including Dream City Muthi, Dharmal, Aruradha Puram, Mohalla Mahajan, Lohar etc, Kangra Fort Banqet Hall area to Barnai Bridge, Muthi Main Bazar, Chandan Vihar, Vinayak Nagar, Amit Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Govt Quarters, Gandhi Nagar last Morh, Gole Market area, Nai Basti , Ashok Nagar & Rampura. The Commissioner JMC Kiran Wattal took on spot assessment of the sanitary conditions and passed on spot necessary instructions to concerned staff for improvement of civic amenities. The spokesperson JMC said that Engineering section of JMC was asked to undertake minor repairs of lanes & drains immediately to provide relief from water logging & flooding. The Executive Engineer (UEED) was instructed to take measures for addressing the issue of choking of deep drains /nallahs in Dream city & Anuradha Puram. Official spokesperson said, "The team further visited Best Price Warehouse mall at Tope Sherkhanian to ensure the compliance of the statutory requirements by the management in meeting the norms under FSS Act & J&K Municipal Corporation Act. The Management was advised to immediately seek necessary licenses from the Corporation to avoid the penal action especially in respect of storage of items & disposal of waste.' "Besides, public meets were also organized at Dream City & Rampura Park. The Resident Welfare Associations of the area submitted memorandum to the Commissioner, JMC enlisting their respective charter of demands. Provision of High Mast Lights, and desilting of nallahas were assured to the residents & shopkeepers, spokesperson said. During the drive in Gandhi Nagar area, four truckloads of material were seized & encroachments made in the markets were removed. The Shopkeepers were advised to maintain the shop line & not allow any material to be placed on the roadside. The officers accompanying the Commissioner were Joint Commission (ADM), Joint Commissioner (W), Executive Engineers, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Health Officer, Chief Transport Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer among others. |
