early times report Jammu, Sept 25: NSS unit of MIER College of Education celebrated NSS day by organizing a visit to old age home, Amphalla- Jammu. About twenty nine students of M.Ed department paid a visit to the old age home. The volunteers were accompanied by Rohinika Sharma, NSS programme officer, HOD B.Ed special education, Rajendra Praveen and Nishta Rana, faculty PG Deptt. The visit was an eye opener for the students who interacted with the inmates of the home and lent a patient hearing to their predicaments and helped them release their pent up emotions. The students pledged to take care of the elderly who have greatly contributed to the society and were now in the twilight of their life and needed the support of the youngsters. Donations in cash and kind contributed by the staff and students of the college were also offered to the inmates. Earlier, an awareness lecture on NSS was conducted in the college premises. The resource person Rohinika Sharma informed the audience about various aims, objectives and activities of NSS programme. The management of the college appreciated the efforts of NSS unit which is very zealously involved in activities of social service. |
