| Romesh distributes blankets, gift items among widows, children | | Announces installation of hand pump in ST Paul’s Chruch | | Jammu, March 15 Minister of State for PHE, Industries and Commerce Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma distributed gift items, stationery and toys among 250 children belonging to Christian community at a function organized at Residency Road here today. Dr. Sharma also distributed 50 blankets among the widows of Christian community on the occasion provided by the Indian Red Cross Society. The function was organized by the management of ST Paul’s Chruch Jammu in collaboration with Gospel Mission of India who has provided the gift items for the needy. Dr. Sharma speaking on the occasion appreciated the philanthropic and humanitarian attitude of the organizers and said that the spirit of helping others makes one to feel satisfied and enjoys pleasure in serving others. He said that every one of us being above the religious and political considerations should come forward to help the needy and the destitute to restore among them the feeling of being equals in the society. He said that the mission of helping those who deserve to be helped should not be taken the obligation of the charitable trusts or institutions but it should be the duty of every citizen to come to the rescue of those who are downtrodden, helpless, handicapped, widow or orphan by extending every possible support and assistance to them. Dr. Sharma said that Jesus Christ preached truth peace harmony and oneness throughout his life adding that his teachings have assumed much more relevance during the current age. He said that the mission of Jesus Christ for serving those who are in need be carried forward by all of us. Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma on the occasion announced that a hand pump would be installed in the premises of ST Paul’s Chruch at Residency Road to facilitate the visitors Mr. S. M. Gill, ex-MLC, Advocate Mr. Waris Gill, President Christian Legal Association of India, father Mr. Sohan Lal of ST Paul’s Church, Dr. Santosh Mangotra Secretary Red Cross Society and Mr. Feastus Sotra Coordinator J&K Gospel Mission also spoke on the occasion and expressed their views regarding welfare of the needy and destitute.
