Jammu, Mar 16 Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU) will hold its 18th Annual Convocation for the Year 2007 tomorrow i,e 17th March, 2007 throughout the country by teleconferencing mode. The Convocation will also be held at Jammu.
In Jammu the Convocation will be held at Auditorium, Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. J&K Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed will be he Chief Gust on the occasion and will deliver the Convocation Address. 166 Distance Learners will be awarded Degrees & Diplomas by the J&K Education Minister on this occasion.
Starting with four thousand students in 1987, IGNOU today has emerged as the largest Global Mega University of the World with over 13 lakh students on rolls pursuing various Academic/Professional Programmes through Distance mode.
The University is offering over 100 Programmes through its vast network of forty eight Regional Centres, and over 1,200 Study Centres in India and 29 countries worldwide including Singapore, Malaysia, Arab Countries, Vietnam, Kenya, Ethopia and Sri Lanka etc.
The University has recently introduced few new courses, namely Ph.D , in Management and Commerce, B. Tech. Mechanical Engineering, B.Sc (Optometry & Optometric), Advanced Diploma in Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Aquaculture, Diploma in Nursing Administration, Advanced Certificate in Power Distribution Management, Certificate in Shoe Upper Stitching, Cutting, Lasting & Finishing, Certificate in Competency and Enhancement---ANM/FHW & Certificate in Health care Waste Management etc. |
