| Lone demands inclusion of Sonawari into Ganderbal district | | | Jammu, March 16 Deputy Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone has reiterated his demand for the inclusion of Sonawari constituency into the newly created Ganderbal district. He has also made a strong plea for according the area the status of a sub-division. Taking note of the public sentiments in Sonawari and adjoining areas, he said that it has been his consistent demand ever since the new districts were carved out and the committee for the delimitation of the same constituted. He said he has already communicated to the concerned quarters the rational behind the demand and an overwhelming need to fulfill the same. Appreciating the public concern in his constituency, he said people have observed restraint and asked the government not to ignore the public sentiments in view of the genuineness of the demand. Mr. Lone said that Bandipora makes a mark in achieving the development and prosperity-after the district is launched, but added that neither the geographical considerations nor other administrative factors support our joining with this unit of the district. Mr. Lone said that the very purpose of the Administrative reorganization will be lost if it foisted on us ignoring our sentiments and needs. He hailed the sacrifices of the people of Sonawari which they are offering for getting their due. However, he said that any extreme step was not desirable at this stage and appealed the people of Sumbal Town to review their decision for going on indefinite hunger strike. |
