| Jammu city receives 90 lakh gallons of drinking water daily-Romesh | | | Jammu, March 16 Minister of State for PHE and Industries Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma today inspected pace of work of percolation well which is under execution at a cost of Rs. 1.35 crore at sittlee-wear house. During inspection the Minister was apprised that the project which is near completion when commissioned will supply 20 lakh gallon of drinking water per day which will improve the drinking water scenario in Jammu city. He was informed that at present 90 lakh gallon water is being supplied to city per day. Minister also visited PHE sub-division New Plots and took stock of the water supply in the areas falling under the sub-division. He went round the areas of Pacca Talab, Puran Nagar, Sarwal and New plots to asses the problems being faced by people of the area. The Minister interacted with the people who demanded for betterment of water supply position. After hearing people, the Minister gave on the spot instructions to the officers of PHE who accompanied him to make necessary measures for improvement of the water supply in these areas. He instructed for replacement of 200 meter rotten pipe in Pacca Talab to provide two tankers of water to the area to overcome the water crises. Dr. Sharma asked the Engineers for laying of additional 550 meter new water pipe line in the area and to prepare a project for augmentation of water supply scheme for the area and submit the project for sanction during the next financial year. Dr. Sharma asked the engineering staff to work with dedication and taking sincere measures to come to the expectations of the people. Minister was accompanied by MLC S. Arvinder Singh, Chief Engineer PHE, Mr. V. K. Goswami, SE,PHE Mr. V. K. Puri, Exn. Mr. A.J.Fotedar and Mr. Prem AEE, Mr. R.Khajuria. |
