| Put your best for restoration of services in snow affected areas: Jora to officials | | | Kupwara, March 16 Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora has asked the officers and officials to put their best efforts for the restoration of essential services which got disrupted due to recent heavy snowfall so that people do not face any difficulty or hardship. The Minister was reviewing the measures taken by the district administration for the restoration of essential services and snow clearance in Kupwara district at an officers meeting here today. District Development Commissioner Mr. Ab.Majid Khanday informed that electric supply has been restored in most of the areas while other essential services were restored within two days. He said 10 water tankers were pressed into services for providing potable drinking water to the people while water supply has almost been restored. The R & B department has cleared 170 km roads and Karnah – Kupwara road will be opened for traffic today. He apprised that sufficient stock which include 33,000 quintals of rice, 1651 quintals sugar, 1500 quintals Atta and 1.23 lakh litres of kerosene besides 500 gas cylinders are available in the district. On this occasion, the minister said that Rs.1 crore has been earmarked for augmenting electric supply in the district and asked the officers of Electric department to completely restore the supply as quickly as possible. He also stressed for intensifying marketing checking in the district for curbing hoarding and black marketing. Among others, Chief Engineer Electric, Additional District Development Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner were present in the meeting. |
