Jammu | Mar 16
The much awaited cabinet meet, which is scheduled to be happen any time after March 20, has assumed much importance with the commencement of official work in the eight newly created districts begins from April 1 this year.
Informed sources said that operationalizing of the administrative in these new districts will require a massive overhaul of the state administration. In fact a massive reshuffle in the administrative, bureaucratic and police setup is in the offing in the entire state.
According to sources close to Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, the crucial cabinet meeting could be called anytime after March 20
In order to chalk out a strategy to redraw the administrative setup of the state.
The general impression is that the Chief Minister wants to ensure that the creation of new districts and there functioning goes smooth and without any hiccups.
The chief minister is reportedly taking personal interest for the initiation of official work in all the newly created districts from April 1 this year.
In its wake, the upcoming cabinet meet has assumed an important role as massive reshuffle of administrators is expected in this. It has been learnt through some reliable sources that Chief Minister has himself finalized the names of some senior officers, after evaluating their experience, for assigning them the task of looking after the affairs of newly created districts.
The meeting assumes importance in the context of high level changes that are to be initiated in the police and bureaucratic set-up. The entire police top brass is looking towards this cabinet meeting as there has been no transfers in the department since long.
According to sources, four SSPs out of the proposed nine by the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) will be promoted as DIGs in this cabinet meet. And it is expected that they would assume the charge as range DIGs in the newly created districts. Meanwhile, SSP level transfers are also likely to take place in this meeting. Apart from it, several others civil officers will also be reshuffled to a great extent.
If the four SSPs are promoted in this meeting and transferred to newly created districts, than there is every possibility that more transfers and promotions are initiated in police.
Here it must be mentioned that this meeting was to be held earlier, but due to Chief Minister’s pre-occupation due to the problems caused by recent snow and rains, the meeting had to be delayed.
