| Chib lauds revolutionary steps of Azad led Government | | | JAMMU, MAR 16 Underlining his priorities the newly elected Member Legislative Council and senior Congress leader R S Chib said that he would strive for up-liftment of poor, down trodden, ex-servicemen, displaced persons of a 1947, 1965 and 1971 and also the West Pakistani refugees. He was addressing public meetings at Rangpur Badrey Basti and Bera in RS Pura today. Enumerating the revolutionary steps taken by the Congress led coalition government headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad, the MLC said that these measures would go a long way to bring prosperity in the state and also thanked AICC President Sonia Gandhi and CM Azad for reposing faith on him. He said that he would continue to work for the poor and needy and would not hesitate to take their genuine problems at the highest levels. Referring to the loss to crops due to the recent incessant rains, Chib assured the gathering that he would take up this issue with the government so that the sufferers are provided compensation for the losses. Urging people to maintain unity and communal amity, the Congress leaders impressed upon the people to strengthen the hands of Ghulam Nabi Azad for carrying forward the state on new heights of progress and prosperity. Earlier, en-route, the newly elected MLC was warmly greeted by the people and was accorded a rousing reception on his arrival at Rangpur.
