SECURITY BEEFED UP, INTENSIVE CHECKING OF VEHICLES LAUNCHED, CAMPAIGN AGAINST TINTED GLASSES

Jammu, August 03 : In the run up to the Independence day celebrations the traffic police department has decided to launch intensive campaign to check the authenticity of vehicles and their ownership to avoid misuse of vehicles by militants for planting explosives.
The traffic police authorities have also decided to conduct random checking of vehicles across various city nakas through out the day.
Sources in the department said that following reports that militants were planning to disrupt the Independence day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir the traffic police department has been asked to assist local police authorities to coordinate and launch intensive campaign to ward off any threat. Security has been beefed up in and around religious places in the city and other places. Starting with Vaishnodevi shrine, katra base camp, RaghuNath temple, Ranbireshwar Mandir,PeerKho,Bagh-e-Bahu,Bahu Fort, the security apparatus has been alerted at busy market places including railway station and bus station.
A detailed plan dealing with traffic restrictions and diversions on various vcty routes has also been prepared to avoid inconvenience to commuters.
The department has been asked to launch separate campaign to remove tinted glasses from four wheelers and to enforce traffic rules without any compromise.
Transporters operating long route buses and owners of matadors in city limits have been asked to avoid over loading of vehicles and not to use musical instruments inside their vehicles. The department has set up additional checking points in sensitive areas across the city.
These include Circular road, Narwal bypass road,Jammu Srinagar national highway, Jammu Pathankot national highway,Airport road, Gandhinagar,Shastrinagar, Gole market market, Trikuta Nagar crossing,Railway station,Talab Tillo, RoopNagar,Janipur,Panjthirti,New Plot,Indira Chowk,Vinayak Bazar,Raghunath temple,Railway crossing enroute Channi Himmat.
