| Names of more board members surfacing in TSP scam | | | Rajouri, Mar 16 Names of some more Board members and Officials have surfaced in the multi crore Tribal Sub Plan scam unearthed by Development Commissioner Rajouri a few days back. Reliable sources said that the DDC who have completed the inquest at his level would soon hand over the case to state vigilance organisation for further investigations. Sources further said that the role of some officials in these bunglings has also surfaced and they have been asked to clear their position. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and member of tribal advisory board, Chowdhary Qammer has denied his involvement in the irregularities. However, Qammer admitted that he had recommended his two close relatives for IAY scheme but added that he was not the only member in the board who have made such recommendations. Addressing a press conference at Rajouri here today, Qammer said that the alleged irregularities should be got probed by an impartial investigative agency to bring the reality to light. The multi crore irregularities in the tribal sub plan came to light last week when Deputy Commissioner Rajouri initiated an investigation into the utilization of tribal funds in the district during the financial year 2005-06. As per the preliminary investigations report submitted by Assistant Commissioner Development Rajouri to Deputy Commissioner revealed that most of the members had utilized the funds meant for BPL class of the tribal communities for their personal benefits. The investigation report had also mentioned names of some tribal board members who had withdrew most of the amount in the names of their close relatives. The report also mentions that senior congress leader and member of tribal advisory board identified as Chowdhary Qammer misused his position as board member and recommended the names of his close relatives for the benefits to which they were not entitled. “Not only he recommended the names of his relatives, the amount was drawn twice and thrice for the same family during the same year by showing names of some more members have indicating them as separate families. While Qammer has denied any role in the misappropriation of tribal funds, the tribal communities have welcomed the investigation process initiated by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Pervez Ahmed Malik. Appreciationg the efforts of Malik for exposing the scam, General Secretary Bakerwal Welfare Association, Mohd Rafiq Bajjar has demanded detailed investigation of the tribal funds used in the district during last ten years. Bajjar said that from the very beginning his organisation have been demanding the investigations into the misuse of tribal funds. “This is the matter of satisfaction for us that at least an officer has started investigations into the bunglings committed by the tribal board members during past one decade”. He said “ It is my humble request to chief minister to hand over the case to an impartial investigative agency so that the real face of the community leaders is exposed”. Chowdhary Maqbool Hussain another Gujjar community activist also alleged that the tribal schemes launched by the government of India have never reached to the deserving people. He demanded immediate desolation of the board and initiation of an impartial investigation into the alleged irregularities committed by the tribal leaders in the funds meant for the welfare of tribal communities |
