New Delhi, March 19 : An Indian Air Force officer was arrested, along with his two accomplices, for allegedly robbing a businessman of Rs.275,000 in the national capital, police officials said Monday.
Satish Ram, a 25-year-old air force officer, was arrested Sunday with two others from Mahipalpur in southwest Delhi for allegedly robbing Gurgaon-based businessman Aman Virmani of Rs.275,000 at gunpoint.
The others were identified as Ravinder Kumar Dahiya, a property dealer, and Vishal, a model by profession, both 27 years old.
The trio sent a letter to Virmani, claiming that he had taken illegal possession of their property, a police official said.
The victim was called to a farmhouse in Mehrauli on March 3 to discuss the matter, where they allegedly robbed him of his cash and car at gunpoint, he added.
"Acting on a tip-off, we apprehended the accused and recovered the cash and car," said deputy commissioner of police (southwest Delhi) Ravindra Yadav.
The three accused, all Delhi University graduates, belong to affluent families, said the official, adding that two stolen cars were recovered from their possession.
