| Three chief parliamentary secretaries appointed in Punjab | | | Chandigarh, March 19 : Three new chief parliamentary secretaries were appointed in Punjab Monday by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
The three are legislators Swaran Singh Phillaur, Mohinder Kaur Josh and Jagdish Raj Sahni.
Swaran Singh and Mohinder Kaur were ministers in the previous Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Punjab (1997-2002).
Sahni had won the recent assembly polls in Punjab from the Batala seat by just 84 votes.
Badal, who became chief minister March 2, had inducted 17 cabinet ministers in his ministry. As per law, the state can have only 18 ministers, including the chief minister.
The Akali Dal-BJP alliance has 68 legislators in the 117-member assembly.
A few more parliamentary secretaries are likely to be named by Badal in the coming days.
