| 2nd Martyr’s Memorial Hockey Tourney | | CISF, Punjab and Sind Bank lock horns in semis. | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | Mar 20 CISF and Punjab and Sind Bank enters the semifinal of the ongoing 2nd Martyr’s Memorial Hockey Tournament being played at K.K. Hakhu Astro Turf Hockey Stadium here today. In the third quarter final match being played today, CISF beat CRPF by two goals to one and entered the semifinal. Both the teams played well in the first half and missed their chances to score goal. The first half score was goalless as the players of both the teams were unable to put the ball into the goal. The second half started with attacking hockey from the sides and tried their best to break the defense. In the 51st minute of the game CRPF got the penalty corner and Rajesh Kindo was able to convert it into goal. But after three minutes Parteek Singh of CISF equaled the goal by the fine pass form the right corner. Both the teams put their best in the last ten minutes to score the goal, but Paramvir of CISF scored the field goal in the second last minute of the match. By this CISF registered an emphatic victory by 2-1 goals and entered the semis. Naveen Agarwal, IGP, Home Guards and Civil Defense was the chief guest on the occasion. The match was officiated by Parnam Singh, Sanjay Bhatia, T.S. Negi and V.K. Kohli. The fourth quarter final and second match of the day was won by Punjab and Sind Bank in one sided match. Punjab and Sind Bank players cornered the Corps of Singal in all efforts of match. All the goals were scored in the first half of the match. Sharanjit Singh scored the first goal for his team in the 6th minute of the match by penalty corner. The second goal was scored by Parminder Singh in the 11th minute of the match which is enough to create pressure on their opponents. Punjab and Sind Bank got another penalty corner in the 20th minute of the match which was converted into goal by Saranjit Singh. The fourth and final goal was scored by Daler Singh in the 33rd minute of the match by fine field goal. By this victory Punjab and Sind Bank entered the semifinal. Ashok Gupta, (IPS) IGP security was the chief guest in the match whereas P.S. Gill, ADGP (Armed) and chairman of the organizing committee of the tournament was the guest of honour. Varinder Singh, Amar Singh, M.S. Reen and Jasbir Singh were the officials in the match.
