| Rail concession for UPSC examinees | | | page 6
NEW DELHI The 50 per cent concession on second class train tickets to students appearing for the main written examinations of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Central Staff Selection Commission (CSSC) will be effective from April 1.
Students from institutions, recognised by the Human Resource Development Ministry or the Education Department of the State concerned and colleges affiliated to recognised universities will be eligible for this concession.
As the exercise for the passage of the Railway budget has been completed, the Railway Ministry has notified the terms and conditions for providing the concession, a senior official said on Monday.
The headmaster or principal must mention in the concession certificate that the students are travelling to take the main written examination.
Concession tickets will be issued directly by the station manager on production of the certificate, along with a photocopy of the admit card.
The concession will be granted only for travel in second class, and not in the sleeper class.
As per rules, concession will be admissible on basic mail/express fare alone, and reservation fee, superfast surcharge and other charges will be realised.
