Soft Talk With Sunny
BJP will not remain as mute spectator: Hari Om
8/3/2006 10:16:19 PM
Prof. Hari Om, State BJP Vice-President and spokesperson of the party, while talking to Early Times reporter discussed the security scenario in the state of J&K as well as the functioning of the state BJP in detail. Here are some of the experts of the interview.
Q. You are always of the view that this coalition govt. has failed on all fronts. Comment?
Ans. Yes, it is true. I am not the only one who had this opinion. You your self see, that how law and order situation of the state is deteorating. After the change of reins, the situation goes from bad to worse. People of Jammu in particular were of the view that, the Chief Minister of Jammu will not do wonders, but everything seems to go in wrong directions Militancy is again on the rise. Innocent people are being killed for no fault of theirs.
What happened in Kulhand (Doda) and other place is an eye opener. Hindus are being targeted in the remote areas of Doda, and its adjoining areas. BJP will not see all this as a mute spectator. We will not tolerate the killing of innocent people in our state. As far as corruption is concerned, this has exceeded his predecessor (Mufti Govt.). J&K was rated as the second most corrupt state in the country and I will tell you that the day is not far away when it will be declared as the most corrupt state, if the trend continues. So this govt., by and large has failed in performing its duties.
Q. Views about return of Kashmiri Migrants?
Ans. This was the thirteenth Migration from Kashmir which took place in the year 1990. No, Kashmiri Pandit will go back to valley because the militants groups who are responsible for their displacement from the valley will not allow them to settle down in Kahsmir. Kashmiri Pandits know, if they return they had to support their cause which they never do. This is the 16th year of displacement of Kashmiri Pandits. I personally feel that they should live happily with their brothers.
Q. Should Indo- Pak talks continue?
Ans. They should keep talking to each other, but he recent bomb blast in Mumbai and the killing of Innocent peoples in the state of Jammu and Kashmir has put this issue on the back burner. Talks and act of terrorism can not go together. Pakistan should dismantle the terrorist camps which is running in Occupied Kashmir and then should expect a positive response from our country.
Q. BJP recently organized “Doda Bachao Aandolan” where thousands of BJP activists participated who throng from different parts of country. Comment?
Ans. BJP started “Doda Bachao Aandolan” after, Hindus were killed by the militants and they were forced to migrate to Doda city and other places of Jammu. Militants are planning to wipe out Hindus from the remote areas of Doda as they did in Kahsmir valley in the year 1990. This is big conspiracy on the part of militants to get Hindus out these belts. But BJP will defeat their evil design.
You have seen in “ Doda Bachao Aandolan” every day, thousands of BJP activists, include MP’s, MLA’s and other senior leader visited Jammu ad expressed their support with the brethren living in J&K state particularly for those who migrated or would have liked to migrate from Doda region. They showed their solidarity and unity.
Q. Elections in BJP are going to be held in the month of October. Who will be the next State BJP Chief?
Ans. Our party has many leaders who are capable to be elected on this post. We believe in democratic process. Right now, I won’t be able to comment on this actually, membership drive has started and you will yourself see who will the next State BJP President.
Q When and how you join politics?
Ans. I was never interested in joining politics but on 2nd May, 1990, a seminar organized in, press club, where Balraj Puri, Prof, Zahirudin and Prof. M.L Kapoor participated. During discussion, I reacted strongly against the statement of Balraj puri which created chaos in the seminar. As you know, I am a historian, being a historian; I know the facts about Kashmir. I am Hindu but not communal. So from that onwards, I wrote many articles in different national and local dailies about the facts on Kashmir and slowly started developing interests in joining politics that way, I came into politics.
And now, I will continue to serve the people of my state and country.
