| Cloud burst: 3 women among 6 injured | | Child drown in Lidder river | | Srinagar Mar 21 At least half a dozen persons were injured and equal number of houses damaged due to cloud burst in Tral area of district Pulwama, where police claimed to have saved more than 150 villagers. Giving details of the incident, Dy.SP Tral Mohammed Rashid told News Agency of Kashmir that cloud burst at village Zadiyar Machama, late last night creating a flood like situation in the area. At least six houses were damaged and six persons, including three women, received injuries in the incident, he said adding, the timely action of the police saved many precious lives. The entire village was submerged in water due to cloud burst causing partial damage to almost 20 houses. It was claimed that soon after the incident a police team headed rushed to the area and rescued the villagers. They were kept in a local school building till this morning. Reports pouring in from the area revealed that senior officials from the district administration reached the spot, this morning, to take stock of the situation. The affected families were given free ration and medicare facilities In a separate incident, a two and a half years old child drowned in river Lidder near village Bumzoo, under the jurisdiction of police station Mattan. Police said that the mother of the child was crossing the Nalla, this morning, when she slipped. The child fell down from her lap and drowned in the river. The deceased has been identified as Abid Hussain Magray son of Mohammed Akbar of Dethu. Police has recovered the body of the child and handed it over to the family.
