The situation in the Mendhar area in Poonch District has been reported to be tense after the clash between the Police and people. The crowd of people confronted police when it prevented the people of a community from the illegal construction over the disputed site near Mendhar bus stand. During the clash several people including policemen, civilians received injuries.
According to reports, last night some people of the majority community reportedly encroached upon the land of one Mahesh Kumar, son of Krishan Chander of Mendhar near Bus Stand and erected a tin shed and later converted it into a Madrassa. This morning Mahesh Kumar reported the matter to the police and registered a complaint in this regard. When Police went to vacate the land, people pelted stones on the Police party resulting into injuries to several including Dy SP Mendhar Yougal Manhas. Thereafter a clash took between police and crowd in which several civilians were also injured.
After the incident DC Poonch along with some senior officers reached on the spot and pacified the crowd. Meanwhile, the entire area was reported to be tense when reports last come.
