| NCP demands withdrawal of charges of Chenani- Nashri tunnel workers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 7: National Congress Party (NCP) and National Front of Indian Trade Unions (NFITU) today demanded to withdraw all charges of Chenani- Nashri tunnel workers who were protesting for their rights. Addressing the media person, state president of NCP Thakur Randhir Singh visit to Udhampur Jail with district President NFITU Rashid Shiekh where Bodh Raj Salaria sarpanch of Nashri tehsil was arrested by Ramban police under section 107 and 151 along with hundred laborers. Singh said that the atmosphere of fear and harassment was created by police more than 150 laborers were harassed and beaten by SHO Chanderkot RK Gupta and SI Sajid. "Whereas they are demanding labor laws to be implemented after discussing on table between the management of company and union leaders but DGM of Leighton GV Rao and chief advisor Suresh Kumar Khajuria instead of inviting the labour leaders for negotiations they never bothered to negotiate under labor laws "said Singh. Singh said that the social security schemes and under various central laws this company has to implement provident fund, medical facilities , medical leave, compensation when a worker gets temporary injury, permanent injury, curable and non curable diseases. "The issue of Chenani- Nashri tunnel which is being constructed by Leighton Welspan Pvt Ltd company is working like East India company the management is using musclemen to crush the poor local laborers and has employed the top management from outside who don't have sympathy with poor hill men and did not spare women workers and arrested four women workers Razia Begum of Batote mother of Rashid Malik and three others. Singh said, "The real owner of the company who is foreigner must visit this project and change the present management setup of the company and take action against the management who are only encouraging subcontractors". |
