| J&K Women's Science Congress concludes | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 7: The 2nd J&K Women's Science Congress on the theme "Empowering Women through Science and technology" culminated here today at Govt. College for Women, Parade Ground. The three day Congress was sponsored by the J&K State Council for Science and Technology, J&K and the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. In conjunction with the Congress the College also initiated the Children's Science Exhibition with a view to encourage, popularize and inculcate scientific temperament among the children of the state in which a number of Government and Private Schools of Jammu participated. The Valedictory function started with colouful cultural items presented by the music department. On the occasion, Principal of the college Dr. Hemla Aggarwal, chief guest Principal Govt. Medical College, Jammu, Dr. Shashi Gupta and the Guest of Honour Prof. Indira Rathore former Principal, academicians, researchers, scientists, students and entrepreneurs from different premier institutions and Universities of the state were present. The major highlight of the Congress was the Young Scientist Award Competition wherein a total of 18 budding scientists contested for the Young Scientist Award and Best Oral Presentation Award. Dr. Pragya Khanna, Organizing Secretary of the Programme, announced that the College shall take out the Proceedings of the 2nd J&K Women's Science Congress in the printed form containing all the significant happenings of the event and full length research papers of the participants along with the recommendations of the delegates, benefactors and the supporters to be forwarded to the Dept. of Science and Technology. |
