Jammu, Nov 7: A delegation of Universal Foundation (UF), an NGO called on members of the Parliamentary Sub Committee on Home affairs, which is on a three day tour of J&K State and submitted a memorandum. The delegation led by its President Dineshwar Singh Jamwal and Mahesh Kaul, Executive Member submitted a memorandum to Rajiv Pratap Rudy, highlighting the genuine demands of these hapless people who had migrated in J&K State of India after 1947 and by crossing the international border and had settled in the border belts of Jammu region of the state at the time of partition after migrating from the newly created country, Pakistan.During the discussions, Jamwal highlighted the problems of migrated people saying that that these people are not eligible to be a member of the Village Panchayat even though they are residents in J&K for the last 67 years, they are not eligible to take part in State Elections, they cannot purchase land in Jammu and Kashmir, under Rule 17 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Recruitment Rules, they are not entitled to any Government post. |
