Early Times Report

Kathua , Nov 7 : All the Anganwari workers of district Kathua staged one day dharna in favour of their long pending genuine demands under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Anganwari Workers Mahasang in Shaheedh Bhagat Singh Park at Kathua today.
While speaking to the media the president of Mahasang district Kathua Sushma Devi told that the strike is held on the behalf of Anganwari workers of district Kathua to lodge the strong protest against state government for extending the time schedule to 10 Am to 4pm from 10 Am to 2pm. While expressing her resentment she said that the state government has extended two hours extra for duty time but not enhanced the salaries of workers, which is not justified and rational approach of the state government.
Anganwari Workers Jyoti Bala and Renuka said that all the Aganwari workers have been working under the centre government and it is responsible for any change in norms then why state government has interfered into the time schedule of the Aganwari workers.
They also raised issue of salaries pending and said that department/Govt of Jammu and Kashmir has increased the working hours 4 to 6 hours and from the month of April 2013 to till date but the salary has not been released by the Govt which is rupees Rs 3600 per month to a worker and rupees Rs 1900 per month to the helpers. They said the salary package is just like "a drop of water in an ocean" and is totally the mockery of the workers who have been working with department since long. They also alleged that the workers are still unknown about the actual amount of their salaries which are being released from union government and this must also be transparent to the workers. On the occasion they also warned to intensify their agitation if their demands are not met as soon as possible.
Later they also submitted a memorandum regarding their demands to the union and state government through Deputy Commissioner Kathua.
