JAMMU, Nov 7: The Parliamentary Sub-Committee (PSC) on the rehabilitation of J&K migrants headed by Member Parliament Rajiv Pratap Rudy today held marathon interaction with a number of delegations of various migrant organizations at State Guest House, here today and took stock of their problems. The PSC which was on three-day visit to State to study the affairs of migrants in different migrant camps and to assess the implementation of PM’s relief package on ground obtained first-hand information and problems being faced by the migrants in various camps. The Committee also interacted with the delegations of PoK/Pak/West Pakistani and Chhamb Refugees and listened to their grievances. Members Parliament, MadanLal Sharma, Ch. Lal Singh, MLA and President of BJP State Unit, Jugal Kishore, Legislators, Ashok Khajuria, Ch. Sukhnandan Kumar and Ravinder Sharma who were also present in the meeting and put forth their view points on the rehabilitation of migrants and other refugees in the State. The Chairman of the PSC, Rajiv Pratap Rudy maintained that the Committee has been mandated to assess the ground situation with regard to the problems of the migrants living in various relief camps and implementation of PM’s package for the rehabilitation of migrants, adding that the input gathered by the Committee would be incorporated in the Report to be submitted to the Parliament so that the shortfalls, if any to improve the conditions of the migrants are overcome. They expressed sympathies with the inmates of camps and assured them that the Committee will recommend everything possible for improving their living conditions and other welfare. The Committee appreciated the courage and spirit of the Kashmiri migrants who are living in pitiable conditions. They also issued suitable instructions to the Central and State Government officers for immediate attending the problems like medicare, drinking water, electricity, education, repair of quarters in different migrant camps. The Committee also assured the West Pakistani Refugees, Pak/Pok/Chhamb Refugees to take up their issues with the Home Ministry for their permanent solution. The Committee expressed its concern on the plights of these communities and assured that they will vociferously raise the issue in the appropriate form and convince the Central Government for resolving their long standing demands. The other Members of the PSC included, Naveen Jindal, Co-Chairman, Raman Deka, Neeraj Shekhar, Sanjus Kujar, Navneet Singh, E. T. Muhammad Basheer and ShafiqurRehmanBurq, all Members Parliament. Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, Mr K. Skandan, Director RajayaSabha, Vimal Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu, Secretary Revenue, VinodKoul, D.C . Jammu, A.K. Sahu, Relief Commissioner (Migrants), R.K. Pandita and other officers of the State administration were present on the occasion. Last evening, the Committee paid visit to migrant camps at Purkhu, Muthi, Buta Nagar and Jagti to make personal assessment of the conditions of migrants. The Members interacted with the inmates and enquired about their welfare and difficulties. The migrants thanked the Committee for their concern and sympathy with the inmates. |
